Friday, July 10, the Board of Directors of Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging, Inc., announced the promotion of Randy Nebel to president. “Over the last two years, we have endeavored to drive considerable change at Longview. While some of this change has been difficult, our intention is clearly focused on creating a very successful, long-term business where safety and environmental protection are embedded into our performance-based culture. Randy has made significant leadership contributions to the transformation of Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging,” said Hugh Sutcliffe of Brookfield Asset Management. Brookfield acquired Longview in April 2007.

 

Randy Nebel has 31 years in the paper and packaging industry, working at notable organizations such as Weyerhaeuser, Georgia-Pacific and James River before joining Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging, Inc., in January 2008. His experience in the paper industry includes tissue, newsprint, lightweight medium, bleached board, kraft paper, containerboard and pulp. Additionally, Mr. Nebel has led several strategic initiatives relating to strategic procurement, large-scale systems implementation, strategic planning and due diligence for major acquisitions.

 

Mr. Nebel has a BS in chemical engineering from Montana State University. He has worked at nine paper mills over his career, of which he was the mill manager of five, and is known for his focus on employee safety while improving production speeds and equipment reliability.
